I am looking for a good, classic brasserie for a late meal following the ballet at Opera Garnier. Something that is within walking distance and has the classic decor and style of a traditional brasserie. I know, and like, Restaurant Garnier, but it isn't what I am looking for this time. I thought perhaps Vaudeville? I've heard awful reports on the food at Le Grand Colbert. Pity, because it is a gorgeous room.
Have always enjoyed Le Vaudeville. I suggest oysters, bulots, cod with truffled potato puree and Ile Flottante for dessert. Dcor is classic art deco and the atmosphere is lively. You will have a good time.
I agree with Gerry--the Vaudeville is one of the latest good brasseries in Paris, which means that it's v.v.popular, so be sure to make a reservation.
