I hear about this spot in the 17th, but I haven't seen any reviews. Comments?
I've read nothing about this restaurant, which doesn't necessarily mean that it isn't good. Its top of the charts Tripadvisor ranking makes me highly suspicious, however. Best, Alec
Thanks for your quick reply. I agree with your concern given the Tripadvisor ranking. The resto's website, on the other hand is very appealing.
I'm addicted to your website, and I really enjoy your book and articles. We had just returned from Stockholm when your Saveur article came out, which made it even more enjoyable. We loved F12, but we thought Matsalen was more style than substance. Every course has a different type of silver (or wood) ware, placed at calculated, and therefore important, angles on the table, but the flavors were on the timid side, except for one course that was indelibly salty. When we called this to the server's attention, she went back to the kitchen, then came out and said, "That's how the chef wants it.". To which we replied, "it's not how we want it, and we're paying for it."
Keep up your good work, and thanks,Lee
Glad you're enjoying book and blog, and I may try to get to Essens'All sometime soon, so stay tuned.
Re Stockholm, surprised by your dull meal at Matsalen, because I like Dahlgren's food a lot. With his style of cooking, I suspect, however, that there's a luck of the draw, luck of the market and luck of the season factor lurking. Still think often of the wonderful lunch I had at F12, though--what wonderful food, and a pretty room with great service, too.
