Although Julien Dumas, who now believes he is G_d`s gift to the kitchen, is still working at Lucas Carton, he needs to go back to the drawing board when it comes to creativity and customer satisfaction. This so-called expert chef is apparently incapable of cooking anything without garlic or respecting the customer`s wishes as to what is ordered. I went to the restaurant, which is around the corner from where I live, because I had read great reviews about it. From the minute my dining partner and I walked into the dated though beautiful room, to the end of this 3.5 hour nightmare, however, it was a disappointment on steroids. Absolutely the worst fare I have had the displeasure to experience in six months of dining out in Paris and the rudest treatment I have been subjected to anywhere in the world, by the director, Loic Morvan. Morvan, who has been around the place for over 30 years, and purports to care about the “customer`s comfort” needs to take a course in client service, or rather undergo an intervention on how to deal with any customers not enamored of the restaurant. Luckily the place is closed for a month so he can take the time to get reeducated. From the horrific pigeon à la Edgar Allen Poe, served up as an unrequested substitution to chicken breast, to the disdainful lack of an appropriate solution from the director, Loic Morvan, who maintains that “noone ever complains here”, this experience was unparalleled in its unpleasantness. Your 500 euros would be much better spent ANYWHERE else in the City of Lights (and food).

Alexander….

Dinner last night with Brasserie menu but in Lucas Carton dining room. A very nice 52 E, four course “chefs surprise” menu + wine etc. Each course extremely well done and served with very attentive, informative and pleasant service. Not sure why new space closed. The experience was overall a B+/A- evening.

Any thoughts about the Brasserie. Have already reserved a table there for next trip (very soon) to Paris.
